Hi from Finland

Postby Hellstone » Sat Aug 23, 2014 6:44 pm

Hi. I'm 42 years old man from Finland and I have now black turkeys (46) and bronze turkeys (11). I try to keep those pure breed. Some blacks have one bronze-gene and those will soon be our food during this autumn and winter. This is my loving hobby. :)

Hello, your birds look very handsome. Where did you get your stock? Do many people keep turkeys in Finland?

I keep a few Bronze turkeys .... the fox managed to kill my two adult Bronze stags at the weekend ... all my fault, for the first time ever I didn't check that they were away in the shed ... and for the first time ever ... they were not!! Luckily I do have a couple of young stags to grow on ...

Hi Jeni,

Thank you! My stock is from Finland. There are not so many people here in Finland, who have black turkeys. But and bronze turkeys are more popular.

Is this a recent photo? It is amazing how well turkeys do in snow. Luckily we don't have any yet. Although the mountains in Snowdonia have a dusting now. I have found a very nice bronze stag on the west coast of Wales and my two girls are going to be visiting him for a few months after Christmas. So hopefully I'll have some new blood in my flock if I manage to hatch some of their eggs next Spring.
