Bronze

A place to discuss the various turkey colours, whether or not they are Standardised. We hope to shed some more light on the way colours are expressed by co-ordinating as much information from as many breeders as possible. Please post your experiences, pictures and questions here.

Jeni Stanton has given me permission to post this pic of her bronze stag Trevor.
Although bronze is probably the most common colour of turkey in the UK, very few have the quality shown by this example.
Note the sharp barring in the tail, which is often fuzzy or absent in many examples. Bronze turkeys should always have a good sheen. Many are dull, and some are crossed with bourbon red making a "rusty bronze".

WOW Bronze

Postby mrben » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:39 pm

Ok, this is not my photo (borrowed it from an image hosting site) and therefore is not my bird, unfortunatly........... however i wanted to share it with you all as in my opinion, this is the most beautifully marked bronze turkey i have ever seen. The amount of irridescence in the hens plumage is simple breathaking.
I am sure you will agree?

Perhaps kevin, may be able to assign the exact subspecies of this beauty?
